Port Adelaide have had a long history, with the club officially being established over 150 years ago. This makes them the oldest professional football club in South Australia and a founding member of the South Australian Football Association. As a club of South Australia, they have been not only a foundational but also a dominant name. There are legendary seasons in their back catalogue that are famous for passionate historians of the game like us, such as their undefeated season in all competitions in 1914. The modern history of the club is marked by a significant step in 1997 when the Port Adelaide joined the AFL. Alongside a dizzying host of league wins in the South Australian National Football League, they also claimed the cup in the AFL in 2004.

Interestingly, the club have gone through a series of evolutions when it comes to their kit design. If you look back through their first seasons in the late 19th century, their kit involved a lot of magenta, often mixed with blue. However, most of us today would associate them with their now iconic black and white strip. This, it should be said, is by no means a modern invention. We go back to their 1902 season to see this kit emerge. Building on this foundation, they then made some small tweaks on that core design as they officially entered the AFL in 1997.
