Richmond Tigers AFL
Richmond Tigers began all the way back in 1860, but it was really at the turn of the century when they blossomed as a team, with much of this coming thanks to the legendary George 'Mallee' Johnson stepping up as the first true star player of the club. Later in the century, they had a golden period from the late 1960s to the early 1980s, dominating many a season within this successful era. After many ups and downs, the modern era is one of optimism and success. Having taking a dip in the 2000s, the Tigers successfully rebuilt and re-recruited, meaning that they were returning to the finals by 2013. Things have only headed in the right direction since then, with premiership success coming again recently in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
