Tragically dying in an accident whilst leading in the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, Senna's legacy lives on as one of the icons not only of F1 but of competitive professional sport in general. Known as unbelievably prolific driver, he held the record for the most pole positions between 1989-2006. He was known for his speed in all weather, with his fearless and high intensity wet weather driving particularly marking him out as being one of the best ever to have done it. Many also have been drawn into to learning about Senna through his fierce rivalry with Alain Prost, which began when they both were racing for McLaren-Honda and then continued when Prost moved over to Ferrari in 1990. If Prost is known for his clinical calculations on the track, Senna is remembered for his relentless bravery and passion which produced breath-taking driving.
